New Home for The Wiener Library
Many of our friends will be aware of the Library's hunt for a new home following the expiration of our current lease at 4 Devonshire Street. The Wiener Library is now delighted to announce that it has reached an agreement, subject to contract, with Birkbeck, University of London to purchase a long lease on 29 Russell Square WC2.
Work has already begun on planning for the refurbishment of the building, and the Library will keep its readers fully informed of developments. The move is expected to take place in Spring 2011, and the Library will remain at 4 Devonshire Street until then.

Writing Wrongs: The Nazi Era in Fiction
This December sees the start of the Library's special lecture series 'Writing Wrongs: The Nazi Era in Fiction'. The one-off series of five lectures will examine contemporary fiction from a historical perspective - pairing award-winning authors with historians to discuss the research and thinking behind their work.
The first lecture in the series features Rachel Seiffert on her Booker short-listed novel The Dark Room, which explores the legacy of Nazi guilt in Germany through the related stories of three 20th Century Germans. Seiffert will be in conversation with Robert Eaglestone, Professor of Contemporary Literature and Thought at Royal Holloway, University of London.
Further lectures in the series will feature John Boyne on The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas, D.M. Thomas on The White Hotel, Philip Kerr on The Bernie Gunther Mysteries and Martin Amis on Time's Arrow. Further information on the series will be available in the new year and forthcoming lectures will continue to be featured in our e-newsletter.
